2 Corinthians 5:8
We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

Psalms 116:15
Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.

II Timothy 4:6-8
6. For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
7. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
8. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

My Remembrance as Efrain's Pastor…
Efrain loved his children, Xavier and Luisa, dearly. He was burdened for their souls and wanted them to be saved. He spoke of them often. He had a subtle sense of humor. He was a very reserved person, and many times kept his thoughts to himself. He was hungry for the truth of Scripture. Efrain spent a couple years going through discipleship training from the Word of God in His search for a deeper walk with the Lord. He was a thinker! Often, he would approach me with questions from the Bible that he had been meditating on.
Although not perfect, he desired to live righteously and attempted to stay right with his God. Efrain was NOT the person he was because he was a good person. Efrain was the person he was because he came to the realization that he was NOT a good person. He was who he was because of Jesus Christ. He had a personal relationship with God because of what Christ did for him on the cross. He believed the Gospel (that Christ died, was buried and rose again the third day). He repented and placed his faith and trust in Jesus Christ to be his Savior.

Heaven, Can You Imagine
I have read and heard about Heaven,
It's the place I long to be,
In the Bible were told of its beauty,
My Lords preparing a place for me.
Heaven, can you imagine,
All the peace and tranquility,
No more sorrow, no care,
No more burdens to bear,
Twill last for all eternity.
When we reach that wonderful city,
and the master’s face we see,
We will live in His glory forever,
Oh, won't you come on and go with me.

This is not goodbye but see you later, dear Brother Efrain. We are thankful to know that you are with our Savior, Jesus Christ. We will surely miss having you in our midst in the assembly at Heartland Baptist Church. We are thankful that we can look forward to seeing you again when we arrive in our eternal home come death or rapture. Until then, we continue to serve our Lord in honor of your life. We also pray that God will bring someone to fill the role that you played as well as the hole that you left in our midst. See you soon!
